CEC-Remote

This project was originally done in the Summer of 2017 using a Linux Shell window wich took in single character input to send string commands to another shell windwow running the Pulse Eight cec-utility. Upon realization of its semi-popularity, the project was redone in 2019 in a manner that is more user friendly and actually re-writes the original cec-utility.cpp file from Pulse-Eight, and can be run in a single window in a fully text based operating system.

RunRun Journey

This Creative Labs project started out as "Satisfying Workout" lead by Hajar Azzam. As the academic quarter progressed, I suggested using the iPhone gyroscope instead of the Xbox Kinect and ended up becoming the Project Co-Lead. Later I would be the Project Lead of a small continuation of the project converting it from sending the gyroscope data over Wifi, to using bluetooth and improving visuals.

Cal Teach

UCLA Cal Teach involved assisting, observing, and teaching a collection of lessons to elementary students including one about how my electric skateboard worked and one on 3D shapes. Using the 3D PLA printed objects shown above, students could determine prism volume and surface area two grade levels early. This was done by making larger objects through combining smaller ones along with other methods.

Animated Interactive Learning

As Project Lead it was crucial to ensure that each team was on their way to completing their project. In the end rather than the complications of creating a dedicated program, it was decided there would be a bigger audience if we simply posted the lesson videos on youtube and used links to redirect choices. This was done with the clickable video above with a rocket. One of the most impressive videos was done by Abigail Yang who made a video demonstrating circular linked lists with dummy nodes, as requested by Carey Nachenberg, an adjunct professors of Computer Science at UCLA.

Loba Lawn Cleaner

As head designer it was crucial to make detailed CAD files which allowed for feasible 3D printing and Laser Cutting. Vladislav Miftakhov played a crucial role in testing and debugging. Xianshen Yao coded the necessary implementation for raising the bin and roomba based navigation.
While Vladislav was testing the bot it happened to catch the eye of a reporter for the Los Angelas times writing an article about a recent University donation.

Wooden Electric skateboard

This was designed for fun but later became somewhat necessary for moving around UCLA campus after a fifth metatarsal fracture. Initially the wheels used a small bike chain with a sprocket that was CAD designed and CNC cut for the specific wheel it was placed on. This was later changed to a 3D printed PLA, and later water-sliced aluminum timing belt pulley.
The wooden battery and VESC enclosures were designed and then Laser Cut with 3D printed L-brackets. Lastly the motors are protected by a designed 3D printed part.
